Lou Wickham

Lou is a renowned expert in the field of air pollution science with a passion for public health protection. Awarded a bachelor’s degree in chemical and materials engineering from the University of Auckland, and a master’s degree in environmental law from the University of Sydney, their professional trajectory from independent consultancy through regulatory appointments and back in Australia and New Zealand has earned them Trans-Tasman recognition.

Lou is an experienced Commissioner, making decisions with delegated authority under the Resource Management Act on a wide variety of resource consents, ranging from early childcare education centres and poultry farms to large industry and infrastructure. Lou has also acted as an expert witness in numerous public hearings and in the Environment Court.

An enthusiastic, if eternal, beginner, Lou studies te reo Māori. Nō Whakatāne ia. Ko Pākehā te iwi. (They are from Whakatāne. They are Pākehā.)
