Panel: Water Water Water – fundamental freshwater futures

10.30am | Friday 12 September

After seven years in the rural banking industry, Guy returned to the land in 1994, purchasing the 183-hectare family farm “Trelawne” in the Awatere Valley. Over the past three decades, he and his family have transformed the property from a traditional sheep and mixed cropping operation into a fully irrigated vineyard, now with 144 hectares dedicated to premium wine production.

He holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Commerce (VFM) from Lincoln College, is a former Registered Land Valuer, and a graduate of the Rabobank Executive Development Program for Primary Producers.

Beyond the farm gate, Guy has been deeply involved in community and industry leadership. His past governance experience includes serving on the Seddon Primary School Board of Trustees, as a Board Member of the Marlborough Winegrowers Association, Director and Deputy Chairman of Seasonal Solutions Cooperative, member of the MDC Water Allocation Working Group, and longstanding Chairman of the Awatere Water Users Group (1994–2025).
